Sudden rash on 6 month old?

We have a 6 month old that is exclusively breastfed and has had just a few food items (pears, peas, squash) - without a reaction for a few weeks - except last week we noticed a little rough patch on her leg. Yesterday I thought her skin on her arms and legs was oddly dry. Today she has little red bumps all over her legs and arms, as well as back. What could this be?|||i really dont think its a food allergy,, my son has nut, egg and seed allergies and has since birth, the rash u describe is different to my sons

he pretty much straight away gets hives on his face, neck, and chest,, very itchy, and they look like raised skin, not dots

yours could just have had a virus that caused a rash or just some eczema xxxxxxxxxxxxxx|||Could be a mild reaction to something.

You can get a reaction from something YOU ate too. I couldn't drink orange juice for about 6 months of nursing time, but gradually I got it back into my diet without it causing her to react. Orange juice is now one of her favorite things :)

Oh, and I think reactions typically happen on the 2nd time giving a new food, not the first.

Could be an eczema or heat rash too...have you changed soaps or laundry detergant lately?|||It could very possibly be eczema. If so the doctor will prescribe some hydocortizone creme for it. My son has the same type of rashes, which seem to be more likely to appear in the winter when it is cold, or sudden weather changes can also bring it on. But as with any rash, especially at that age, I would go see a doctor. Good luck!!|||dry skin or exema.. cut down her baths to once every 2 days, you can put some baby oil on her to keep her skin soft.|||It sounds like an allergic reaction. Remember, allergic reactions can happen for many reasons. Not just food. Think of these things to see if you can rule anything out. Laundry detergent, pets, baby wash, lotion, diaper rash cream, diapers, medication, new clothes that weren't washed before wearing, new people holding the baby. These and others can contribute. Good luck. Hope I helped.|||i was going to say dry skin but it sounds like she is having a reaction to one of the foods you are feeding her i would take her to the doctor if lotion don't help|||My son had the same thing when he was about that age. My doctor said it could be some fabric or if we changed the detergent in his clothing and it irritated him. Also maybe a new bath product we used. But we didn't know, she gave us a cream that worked wonders. The rash vanished.
