What causes diaper rash?

I know that kids can get it from wet diapers, but is it from moisture or is it something in urine and stuff that irritates skin. I don't have kids so, I'm a bit clueless.|||This is a good website....it might answer other questions you might have.|||it is caused by the ammonia in the urine being next to the skin for too long.|||well yes it irritates the skin to have urine there and it starts to chaff YEEEEOUCH|||they get rashes by their skin rubbing together causing heat therefore causing a rash. keep baby powder in your baby's diaper so that rashes cannot occur.|||Diaper rash is caused from wet diapers since bacteria form very quickly on the skin that is already irritates by urine.|||Urine contains ammonia-which if it sits on the skin long enough will cause a chemical burn. Changing a childs diaper frequently will prevent a diaper rash. I always used A and D ointment on my kids bottoms with every change to protect their skin from damage.|||Try this website
