Can cedar tree leaves cause a rash like poison ivy?

i was cutting my cedar tree and the leaves got on my skin and now i am broke out like poison ivy and it itches. can someone help me? do ineed a doctor?|||Yeah that happened to me also.

Cedar has these tiny little needles that get in the skin causing inflammation and redness (you can see them if you look carefully). Except if you have evidence of infection (pus, ect), I dont think you need a doctor. It IS itchy %26amp; annoying, but it will sort itself out.

Now I wear gloves when messing around with cedar ! ;-)|||It sounds like you may be allergic to that particular tree. It is common, as I am allergic to pecan trees. Just put some calimine (that is spelt very wrong, but it sounds right!), on it, and don't let it come in contact with any other part of your skin, or it will spread. If it is a serious rash, like, if it spread a lot or is an odd color, than you should see a doctor to get some antibiotics. Carpe Diem!

Skin reaction to way too much cinnamon- important question about?

how long can I wait until after the rash brought on by this unnatural amount of cinnamon in my bloodstream heals to eat the spice again? Or is my body now actallu ALLERGIC to it?|||Not quite sure how long it would take to leave your body, but I have several food allergies and I always have Benedryl and my epi-pen with me. If you start to break out in a rash, you're probably allergic to it. Try taking 1 Benedryl next time this happens (be careful if you drive, they make you drowsy) and see if that helps with the rash. I would suggest seeing your doc and he/she can refer you to an allergist. You should get this checked because the reaction can start off mild, but it can all of a sudden become an anaphylactic reaction, which is life threatening. You can buy the Benedryl OTC at the drug store. Better safe than sorry.

8 year old with very odd rash like patch below elbow. They are perfect rows of little bruise like spots?

When my daughter got out of her bath last night I noticed she has what at first glance I thought was a scrape on her arm, after a closer look it showed an odd pattern of about 4-5 rows across and about 9 spots high a piece of small reddish purplish spots under the skin, almost like a bruise but ruddier almost like a broken blood vessel. She says it doesn't hurt or itch but I can't figure out what it is?|||Keep your eye on it again for a day or two or more.

If she was laying on something (like carpet) or the ground it could be a little abrasion - My daughter had a weird rash last night from her friends trampoline.

Could be just as you say little bruises. Keep a close eye on them and if they seem worse call her MD.

If they appear the same or better just keep a mental note.|||Sounds like some alleregic reaction- these days with the detergents alone kids develop all kinds of allergies- talk to her pediatrician about this, it's best if he/she takes a look at it.|||could be ringworm - if it didn't go away in a day or two I would take her to the doctor.

Skin help...?

I have had this rash on my arms and legs ever since i could remember. When i go to the doctors to ask about it they say that it isn't eczema but it is similar. I remember reading about what it was on the internet but i can't quite remember what it is called...anyone have an idea?|||Rosacea?

Skin condition?

for three years i have had a rash on my lower leg on the shin area.sometimes they are like blisters but lately they are just purpulish raised areas.when i get stressed they itch and hurt.i have been to the doctor had a biopsy and i even went to a dematologist he just said don't scratch.i think i have psoriasis.i had two brothers who had it and when i described it to my brother he said it sounds like it.i have started putting a and d ointment on it it seems to help.anyone have any other advice?|||I had a rash on my eyes and neither the dermatologist, nor the opthalmologist, nor the general practitioner were able to help me. My ex-husband told me to take an amino acid called lysine and it helped me.|||Crushed aspirin mixed with Lanocaine.|||Did your Dr also test for Erythema Nodosum when he/she did the biopsy? Symptoms can be similar to what you describe.

Allergy testing/ skin reaction?

I recently was tested for my outdoor allergies. I had the little pricks on my back %26amp; then shots of it in the arm to double check the ones that came up negative. That was 6 days ago %26amp; some of the red areas on my arm haven't gone away! Should I be concerned about this? I'm not having any bad reactions except it kind of looks like a small rash at the injection sites. I guess I just expected it to have gone away by now.... Help?|||No. This is normal and unless they look infected, there is no reason to worry. Sometimes the areas are just super sensitive after the testing. Try putting topical steroid cream like hydrocortisone 1% on the area.

Good luck!|||that sounds like a long time. but some of us have sensitive skin and it's not even a reaction you are seeing, but just the actual little prick from the needle. those take a couple extra days. so, if it's just the one's where the needles were, it's probably not the allergen that your arm is still reacting to, but just the needle.

good luck!|||I had the same thing when I was tested it should be alright.Just keep a eye on it,and notify your D.R. if it gets worse.|||You should have a return appointment with your doctor to check the places on your arm, but you are in no danger if it just appears as a small rash. It will just tell the doctor that you are allergic to those things. If you should experience difficulty breathing then that would indicate a more severe reaction which would require immediate medical attention|||Put some benadryl creme on it.|||Calm down... somtimes stress can worsen or cause a rash. First off, put some aloe vera on it, and then call your doctor to see if this normally happens.|||No you're fine. Ive had that so many tI'mes before. because I'm deadly allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, (these next things im not deadly allergic to just allergic) pollen, dust, dust mites, trees, grass, any animal that has fur and some kind of medicine that i cant remember the name of. Don't worry about it.|||If you are allergic to the places they shot in your arm, I don't think it is uncommon to last that long. I am allergic to nickel and if i touch it for even a minute, my break out will last about a week or 2.

Good luck.

I have got a red rash on a part of my penis?

It is not an STD beause I did not have sex with anyone. It bled today when I was masturbating. I think it is like raw skin that rubbed off but I want to be sure. What you think it is? I think I got it from masturbating but I never touch the bottom of my penis when masturbating. When I say bottom I mean the end closest to your body.|||i got the smae thing, but it wasn't bleeding. i thought it was from jacking off too. so, i don't think its a problem...|||go to the doctors not yahoo answers

oh yeah and ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww|||STDs come in all shapes and sizes and can lurk in your system until you are low. Get to an STD clinic fast and hope and pray.|||I puked after reading this anyway you sure really go to a doctor before something really bad happens|||Go -To -The -Doctor

Most obvious reason is friction|||red rash?

maybe, an insect bite or something.|||red rash could be thrush....depends where it is exactly tho|||Go To The Doctor it's the only way

I have a wierd red rash on my belly. What do you think it is?

Its like lots of red dots under my skin on my belly. How do you think i can get rid of it?|||i hope it not chicken pox!|||Take some Benadryl.|||sounds like shingles go see your doctor they are the chick pox virus and very contagious if that's what it is

Do you have or know anyone with lupus...sle? Share your story?

I have SLE.....so far it is mild, affecting my skin and joints. They say mild, anyway....I've had to have both my knees replaced and am always on guard for skin rashes.

Will life get better, do you think? Will I always feel so tired? I'm just trying to figure out what to expect.

Please tell me your experience....or about any friends or relatives.|||My grandmother was diagnosed with lupus four years ago. She had skin reactions to food and quite a few rashes... wore herself out very easily on short shopping trips... had immune responses to many different new foods or stressful situations.

Her doctors recently found a heart condition. They have put her on heart medication and she is now cured of lupus. It seems she was misdiagnosed. Some illnesses seem to be umbrella illnesses where doctors lump things with similar symptoms together even if they arent entirely sure where the problem originated or how to stop it.

What could this be? a rash?

i have a rask on my back and about 3 inches below my armpit and it itches and my skin in bubbling what could it be?|||well it can be anything consult dermatologist.|||It's a rash and I know because my little cousin has what you described.|||Sweat rash, have you changed your deodorant?|||It might be rash but if it doesn't go away, it might be your skin problem. Go to the doctor if it gets worse.|||could be eczema. Have a doctor check it out.|||it might cause of heat.. always keep yourself cold no sweat... if still rash see doctor, get some lotion|||Probably eczema. Sometimes changing your laundry detergent or deodorant or body soap/wash can irritate the skin or cause an allergic reaction resulting in a rash/eczema or it could be a herpes infection if you've been letting someone kiss or nibble that spot.|||eczema? Atopic eczema.|||Although you are young it could be the shingles. Is the bubbling cracking, oozing, and scabbing over at all? See a dermatologist!

My 5 mos. baby has eczema... What medicine would you prescribe? Did it work for you?

Eczema - Skin rashes that seem to be not going away. My baby had this skin problem since he was 3 months old.|||Eucerine is good but in a clinical double blind study Renew lotion was proven 5 times better after 14 days in skin hydration 7 times better in moisture retention.|||Adult creams may be too strong for a baby. Ask your doctor or see a dermatologist.|||you should take him to a pediatrician, not asking people on the internet! Your baby can have a bad reaction to many things since he is so young. Ask a professional!!|||well my brother in law has that too but he just uses oatmeal lotion but u should defitnely ask ur pediatrician! Good luck!|||Eucerine Creamy. It works really well and its safe too. My little one has had it since he was 5 months old and he is almost 2 now. It has really helped a lot.|||I used Aquaphor... it works great on my daughter...|||Papaya cream is what you need. Ask at a health store.|||Make sure that you are washing all clothes, blankets, and sheets in baby detergent or it will only aggravate the problem. Put 1/2 cup of Oatmeal in their bath water. Avoid Lotions with fragrance. See your pediatrician for a RX of pediatric hydacortisone cream.

I have some kind of rash..does anyone know what it might be?

It's on my hands. On the palms and sides of fingers. It's skin colored, not red or anything. It's very bumpy, and itchy, it's not poison. It's an allergic reaction, I THINK!!! I want to know what it is and how to get rid of it. It makes me feel gross.|||Why try to guess what this is when it is really bothering you? Please, don't put your health in the hands of an amateur forum. Respect your mind and body. You must consult your doctor. (I am a physician myself and this is the best advice I can possibly give you.)|||It's probably an STD.|||it could be from touching too much mucus. Use vaginal cream.|||Go to your doctor or look it up on the computer. You could also ask a family memeber|||i work in a hospital and sometimes when i use a harsh soap this happens to me.........po ssible its the same with you..........coat you hands thick with neosporin and put some winter gloves on for a couple hours and see if it helps...otherwise....go see your dr|||Possibly impitigo or ecema (sp)|||It may be worthwhile going to a doctor or dermatologist (skin doctor). Camemile lotion may work as it reduces irritation and rashes.|||could be contact dermititus try a hydrocortesone cream from the pharmacy or talk to the druggist they may say to take benedryl pills over the counter and use benedryl cream for the itch my daughter broke out from snuggle and some people can touch it and break out|||the best thing you can do is go and see a dermatologist. I know it's probably not the answer you hoped for but when it comes to rashes and skin that's the best way to do it or else it'll take ages to get rid of that|||Have you used a different soap, lotion, or something like that? Benadryl helps itching and swelling. Oatmeal baths help (although it's on your hands so try just soaking them). If it is bad a doctor might give an antibiotic and steriods for swelling. Have you worn latex gloves lately, this could cause a reaction?.|||well if its not poison ivy it could be ecezema, but you really need to go to your doctor or a dermatologist

My Dog Has a bad rash all over his face.?

His face looks horrible. It's like all of his fur around his face is gone and now hes got huge scabs of blood on his face. He also has a little bit on his foot. Everyday it looks worse. Now he has yellow gooey stuff in his eye Me, my mom, and my grandma don't know what to do. We put this blue stuff called "Benadene Hot spot Skin Remedy" on it but all it does is dry it out and make it itchy. Can u help us? Please and Thank u.|||Take him to a vet. My dad's dog had a similar problem, and it turned out it was her diet. My dad kept feeding her fresh food and scraps from the kitchen. The Vet gave a a few injections and a medicated shampoo, but the most important advice she gave him was to ensure the dog only ate dogfood. Our food is far too rich for them.|||Take it to a vet!|||It could be a parasite. I would suggest a vet before it gets worse.|||Take him to the vet, he's got a bigger problem.|||hes probably sniffed somebody with jock itch lolol|||You need to take your dog to a vet right away. If he is bleeding that is bad. He can die from infection.|||go to the vet|||Do you have a golden retriever? They call them hot spots, they get to hot and sweaty, they lick it raw or dig with their claws. Sometimes if they don't dry good after getting wet it causes rashes. Take him to the vet.|||take the dog to a vet - it sounds like the dog might have mange, especially if it's a younger dog, as this kind of thing can be more common in younger dogs.

don't panic, though, mange generally sounds worse than it is if you treat it - basically it's an infection from a kind of small tick that is easily treatable.

the important thing to do is go see a vet, though.|||MY GOD!

What does it take for some people to take their pets to the vet. this one really irritates me, your dog should have been at the vets office when this first accoured, sounds like you mom and grandma don't give a hoot about your dogs welfare, If you cant do it right best give up the dog where it can have a proper home and get the proper attention. hope your other two dogs are in better shape.

My new born has a rash on his face.?

most of my older family members tell me its from kissing the baby on the face. they constantly get upset at me cuz i do. and that its also cuz my husband has a mustach and it irritates the babys skin when he kisses him. is this true??? it looks like tiny red pimples on his forehead and nose and some on his cheecks. what you think it is? does it go away?|||anyone who tells you not to kiss your baby should be hit with a shovel ( merry christmas ) as long as ur husbands mustach is clean everything is ok babies get rashes and they get acne its honestly totally normal|||a rash after your newborn is normal and chances are it will go away fast. There is NOTHING wrong with kisses for your baby. You love him/her theres no reason you shouldnt. It could also be baby achne which will also go away after time.|||Both of my babies had it at birth. It will most likely last about a week to 10 days. Don' t put anything on it at all. Just clean the babies face a few times a day with a washcloth and water, nothing else. it will go away on its own. It is best not to kiss the babies face as their skin is very sensitive right now. It is called baby acne, don't worry. Just wipe is with a cloth and water and it will be gone soon. Congratulations!|||yeah, it's probably just pimples...newborns usually get them anyways, wether it's from kissing or whatever else, i don't know, but it is normal.|||babies have delicate skin, but what ever you do dont stop kissing him. if it doesnt go away take him to the doctor|||its just that. babies get baby acne. It will go away just fine.|||it could be the laundry deterent you are using. try dreft for awhile. make sure you do there laundry by there self. my son had same problem looks bad. but it cleared up so I could get a good picture.

Extremely itchy skin problem?

For about 2 months now I have had certain places in my body itch. (left hand wrist, under knees, left small spot upper chest) They itch so much I have developed a red circle "rash" on my wrist. What can be the cause? It gets even more itchy when I get out of the shower. I have been using the same soap as always.|||Go to the emergency room. It could be ringworm.|||Use itch creme|||It may be something so simple as just the weather. Alot of people get itchy skin in the winter due to the lack of humidity in the air and your skin getting no moisture. Also, people tend to neglect moisturizing in the winter because you aren't showing off your skin. Lotion up right after you towel off from the shower...every day! If it isn't better in a few weeks, see a dermatologist.

By the way..do you live in apartments or close to other people? Someone may have gotten a new pet that has brought along little "friends".

Surgery and Skin Condition?

Im having surgery on june 14th.

My eczema is pretty bad right now,

Can they cut through the rash?

or does it have to clear up first?

:)|||i have severe psoriasis and i use a product called Lucas's Paw Paw ointment... it can be a little greasy but it helps with the dryness. its great for eczema..|||call the surgeon.

I woke up on Friday with what looked liked a rash on my face from the cheek bone down to my chin area.?

I have not gone to see a derma. specialist but I may have to. The red has gone aways but the skin on my face still feels different. It is dry and chaffing I have never had something like this anyone know what this is or has had?|||I'd say a possible allergic reaction. Maybe a bite and a histamine response. Most other things it could be don't come on that quickly. Go see a doc, doesn't have to be a dermatologist (they are more expensive).|||Go to the doc's!|||could be from irritating it with something. check web md.com|||Did you change Laundry soap? some people react to that.|||Did you eat anything you usually don't? Sounds like an alergy.|||I had that once and I had to use some kind of lotion...chorzone I cant remember the doctor gave it to me so that was good...but i would just go and see if there is something at walmart for rashes.|||Ewww!! Gross!!!!!!!!!!!|||it could be a condition called Rosacea

its quite common|||It might be rosacea. Ask you doc about that. Or maybe contact dermatitis, a reaction to something your face has come in contact with.|||sounds like contact dermatitis, especially if it is only in one particular area. Do you sleep on that side? Did you use different lotion, cream, soap, perfume, sprays, etc.... recently? Were your bedsheets washed in new detergent or new fabric softener or something? Usually if you get some hydrocortisone cream on the rash and that takes it away, it means it was some sort of sensitivity or allergic reaction to something that came in contact with your cheek. Aloe vera is great for skin ailments too, so you can give that a try.|||If the area feels painful or itches like crazy, it could be a case of shingles.

However, since you didn't mention pain/itching, I would say it is probably an allergic reaction, i.e. contact dermatitis. An application of vitamin E may help alleviate the dryness. I would avoid any lotions with lanolin as they might cause an additional reaction.

You may also have a mild form of eczema. Some forms can be treated with over the counter medications, others require a prescription from a dermatologist.

If the skin breaks out again, itches, gets painful, turns red or anything else bothersome, I would seek medical attention.|||sounds like an allergic reaction to something...does it itch? try and think of what you did on friday, or if you were around anything new that you dont normally come in contact with (new beauty product, cleaning product, animal, etc.). if you can pin it to something, go see a doctor and have it tested.

keep the area moisturized; try to exfoliate if it doesn't hurt (use a GENTLE facial cleanser, with no perfumes or dyes %26amp; a washcloth). if it hurts or itches or the red comes back or its spreading, go see the doctor.

sometimes i get little bites that swell outwards to a big red area, then the bite %26amp; redness %26amp; swelling go away and i'm left with a big patch of itchy, flaky dry, dry skin. goes away after a few days of exfoliation %26amp; moisturizing. haven't had it tested or anything (besides for lyme, which was negative), but the doc says its probably a reaction to a certain kind of venom. dont know where you are in the country and what bugs are near you lol, but maybe its the same kind of thing?

edit: wow, i'm slow lol|||Maybe its nothing, but It sounds like it might be an autoimmune disease called lupus, which is sometimes accompanied by what is called a butterfly rash on the face. See your doctor.

Help? Any Vet Techs? Dog has instant red, itchy, bumpy, rash reaction?

Earlier today, my dog (70 lbs) went outside to go to the bathroom. Upon returning, she had hive-like bumps all over her, and her skin is extremely red. She is extremely itchy as well. Any pre-diagnostics before the vet office tomorrow?

:) Thanks

fyi-we called the vet and he prescribed a 25 mg Benadryl pill, which she took. the symptoms returned?|||sounds like an allergic reaction of some sort. sometimes Benadryl doesn't work on dogs just like people. So your vet may give an injection and stronger antihistamine.|||Probably a reaction to a bee sting. If the dog doesn't get better or seems worse then do not wait until tomorrow to see a vet.

Could also be a reaction to getting in a fire ant hill? Not sure of your location but I suspect insect of some sort to cause this so suddenly.|||Sounds like an allergic reaction, which you probably already suspected. Dogs can get up to 1mg/lb Benadryl , in other words, your dog can safely take 70 mg of Benadryl if she is indeed 70 lbs.

You already gave 25 mg, and could give her another 45 mg, which would be about 1 3/4 tablets. She will probably be sleepy but we use Benadryl all the time in dogs, at that dosage.

If she starts to have trouble breathing/swollen face or throat, that is an emergency and she needs to be seen right away.|||could be allergies, though if they've never shown up before then that's not likely. she could've gotten into something and had a bad reaction. if it didn't just 'appear', but it's gradually showed up - you might not have noticed til now - then it could be a hotspot, which is just a mild skin infection that can be treated with no big deal.|||How long has it been since the last dose of benadryl? If over 4 hours, give another dose. If that doesn't help call the vet again and see if you should take her in.|||"omg, some people are so ignorant"

I'm sorry about your dog, but i just wanted you to see that it's not nice to say that about someone you misunderstood.

Large dog w/red pus rash all over underside, along w/cysts and even pus eyes....?

help.....my dog has had skin disorders since puppihood. it is now worsened in his older age w/cyst -like swellings that come and go in areas on his underside. docs say its a fungi type allergy - but nothing ever rids it completely... help??? is this curable?.|||First you do not state how old the dog is? Point to note dogs and skin the link is 'protein'. As Dogs get older they cannot handle high protein in their food, so go for the lowest dog food protein value. It will take a time to look at all the brands and protein values. My Dog had a skin itch and was given steroids, not that it helped. I then met a person who told me the above, started my dog on low protein food and no further problems. Good Luck

My baby has horrible diaper rash.?

since my baby was born on September 4th 2007 she has been on Nutramagen formula. she was fine up untill a couple of weeks ago. now every time she takes a poop it is like it is burning her skin.it also has developped areas that look like a blood blister. ( she poops about 4 times a day because of the formula) I have tried every product from Desitin to Boudreaus Butt Paste and also Tripple paste.

Any Ideas are welcome I will try anything at this point to keep her from being in pain.|||Let the baby go without a diaper as much as possible. The air will help it clear up.When you must put a diaper on the baby put a thick layer of diaper cream on her.|||Might not hurt to have her pediatrician check this to make sure it is not a yeast infection. Desitin will often clear up diaper rash but you have to put on a layer so thick that their skin is completely white and should extend everywhere that the diaper touches her skin.. With each diaper change, you have to put on a new, thick layer. In 24 hours, you should notice some difference. At night when urine and stool have longer contact with the skin, make sure the layer is even thicker. Continue to do this for a few days after the last of the rash is gone. Also, if you put a thick layer on every night at bedtime (after she is healed) you can prevent future episodes of diaper rash.|||We used some stuff called Aquaphor. It is made by Eucerin and is in the baby aisle. It worked wonders for us!! I agree that maybe the doctor should take a look at it too though! Good luck!|||my son ended up with blisters all over his butt because my dad gave him straight orange juice in his bottle..we took him to the doc and got a prescription for it but it didn't help much

the stuff is great i use it for just about every thing|||CHANGE FORMULAS... It sounds like it is too strong for her.

Or dilute it some...It sounds like allergy.

Try Gold Bond Powder. When my daughter was young she had horrible head rash and this healed it ...

I've got this skin condition and i don't know what it is.?

I've seen the doctor for this rash looking thing on my back and he told me it was a form of fungus. He doesn't know exactly what it is and has perscribed me to about five different creams and told me to try over the counter creams like lamisil and lotrimin and nothing seems to help. All the rash looks like is small reddish blotches all over my back. The creams make it go away for a little bit but nothing seems to help it perminately. Does anyone have any other ideas...I want this thing gone! It just appeared one day and has progressively gotten worse despite prescriptions and OTC treatment.|||i kinda have the same thing i dont know whats its called either but mines brown blotches and my doctor prescribes stuff all the time!!!!|||have you tried Tanning in a tanning booth? Perhaps that will fix the problem? Check with the doctor first to see if it will be a issue for the skin. :)|||it sounds like you might have psoriasis. look up the symptoms.|||Have you tried Blue Head and Shoulders with Selenium? You use it at least 3 times a week like a body wash and leave it on for 3-5 minutes, then rinse.

OR...you could go see a dermatologist who specializes in skin diseases and get it put under a microscope so you can treat it and get rid of it right.

Your doc needs to scrape some off onto a slide and send it to the lab instead of guessing.

If it was fungus, lamisil should've worked.

If it is seb derm, the blue shampoo will calm it.

If it dry skin, a cortisone cream would stop it.

Go get it put under a scope and see someone who knows.

Questions that would help if you answered:

How long has it been there?

What does it look like?

What have you used specifically so far to treat it?

Any other symptoms? (does it itch or burn?)

Any of your family or pets doing the same thing?

Any history of skin problems, allergies?

Ever been told you have eczema?

Check out some dermatology web sites for diagnostic pictures. See if you see yourself there.

He also keeps getting some black stuff in his ears. Which I have to clean every two days.|||Take him to the vet, there is a lot of possible causes hypothyrodism, an automimmune disease such as lupus, could be a bacterial/fungal infection, mange it a possibility, allergies, But you need to know what is causing first to be able to treat the problem correctly, as each condition requires a different treatment, often a vet will give steriods(prednisone) to help heal the problem fast and give relief but it does not address the root cause of the problem and that can take some testing inorder to learn the answer otherwise the oroblem just keeps reoccuring|||skin sounds like demodex mange needs a vet

He will give him a mild steroid shot and give you meds for him for about 3 weeks. He probably has canine eczema. One of my Brittanies gets it about once every couple of years. The meds work like a charm. good luck|||Your pet must have some allergies. Take him or her to the vet and usually they give you a pill to administer daily. The black stuff in his ears sounds like ear mites. Ask your vet when you take him ,,,,,,,,,the vet will give you drops to put in each ear several times a day. That will resolve your problem. Good Luck!!

Please help! Skin issue- what is this?

I have had an itchy red rash on my neck for about 5 days now, i never had it there before (although I do have these little bumps on my elbows that i have had since early childhood). It just started itching again really badly and i scratched it a little cause i couldn't stand it anymore and it got really bad. HELP..I have a rash on my rod, its greenish puss with redish black bumps?

Your symptoms sounds like some sort of infection since there is a sign of puss. Any fever? Keep the area dry. Clean with soap and water, splash with peroxide, allow to air dry.|||Have you told yoor doctor that its urgent? I would say to ring up your local GUM clinic and they should usually be able to get you in the next day, if not the day you call in. You should get an idea there and then on what could be wrong and its all strictly confidential.

I wouldn't wait until next week to see the doctor though, at that rate you could be all cleared up by then. I would say that it is definatly an infection so avoid any sexual activity, and try not to mess with it (hard for men I know) as you could just spread it further.

Hope everything goes ok x

A certain type of rash or allergic reaction? It starts at night and mostly goes away during day, ideas ???

The problem is that I have some sort of skin thing happening, it almost looks like poison oak, but I have had that and I don't remember it, for the most part, almost going completely away during the day and then all of a sudden, just starting sometime at night around 11 or so. The first night, (two nights ago), it all of a sudden just started happening. The symptoms are random itchy bumps and what looks like clusters of them on different parts of my body. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I am starting to lean torwards a mild allergic reaction, but to this supplement that I started taking a couple weeks ago, do some allergic reactions take time and then just become apparent? It would make sense to me but I am not a doctor. I thought perhaps it was detergent, but that doesen't seem to be it, along with maybe a fungus on the blanket or something else, but that just doesen't work out right. I am not ruling it out, but I can't figure out why it happens bad at night!|||Sine you tried a different detergent, and that did not work.

It could be your pillows....buy new ones.

My daughter had the same thing...with Down goose feather

pillows.|||Hi there poor you.Is it all over your body or in certain places? It could be a reaction to dust mites in your mattress, an allergy developing to feathers (perhaps in your pillows or Duvet) or eczema - mine only gets bad late at night. Good luck with your detective work.|||This could be an allergic reaction to the type of laundry detergent used on your sheets, blankets, etcetera. I could also be from dust mites. they make special items for people with allergies, special pillows and coverings. You may want to purchase some Dreft detergent and rewash your bedding and see if this works. Also, don't use fabric softener sheets.|||It sounds more like hives then anything else. I get hives at night when I am too warm. They are large, raised bumps that itch like crazy. Try taking some benadryl before going to sleep and see if that helps.

How to avoid a rash from the gym?

I go to the gym 4-5 times a week - I have developed red and dry skin just below my arms and on my butt. Is it to do with my choice of workout gear? Are there better alternatives to wear when working out hard?|||Try an anti fungal powder which you can get at any drug store or even at walmart in the pharmacy area. It could be fungus or could just be irritated from sweat. You can also spray or apply deodorant to those spots before working out to keep the areas from getting wet. Be sure to cleanse the rash and apply a nice thick layer of moisturizer at night and in the morning when you are not working out. Do not itch the area because if it is fungus it can spread. You can ask anyone that works at the pharmacy where you might fight these products. They are usually by the shoe pads and shoe odor spray sections in the health care isles.|||yes it might be caused by your choice of workout wear. stick with cotton, they allow skin to breath easily. also remember to changeyour gym clothes after every workout so that bacteria would not acumulate and irritate your skin. use a bit of aloe gel on the red areas to treat the itchiness and redness.|||Perhaps your clothes are creating friction against your skin? The wrong clothes can be irritating to skin. Try loose fitting cotton for your work out gear. Another possibility of the origin of the rash is heat rash. When you sweat, your skin can develop red bumps and even become itchy. If it doesn't go away soon, I'd recommend you make an appointment to see a dermatologist!|||There could be many reasons - make sure you wipe down the seats and equipment parts your be handling with a disinfectant towel before and after you use the equipment.

Make sure you shower properly after you workout and not left the sweat dry on your skin.

Wear light looser breathable clothing or try climacool or body armor gear. Remember if you're going to the gym you're going there to workout for you and your health -it isnt a dating service - so dress comfortably not necessarily tight and sexy.

Make sure you change and wash your gym wear at least every 2 workouts.

Have the rash below your arms checked by your pharmacist and ask if they could recomend somthing to help you.

My dog and a rash?

I've seen a lot of red skin and blotches on my dogs neck. It doesn't seem to bother her but it looks really red, and possibly has a small amount of puss. I don't know what it is can anybody help me?|||Have you put anything on the dog, like flea treatment or a flea collar? Dog's don't really express their discomfort until it is really bad so you should get it looked at by a vet even though it doesn't seem to be bothering the dog. Without seeing it, my first thought is an allergic reaction or mange, but it could be a lot of things.|||Probably an allergic reaction, have you changed food or collars or taken her some place new, has a bug bit her? If there is pus it is infected, VERY dangerous, especially around the neck. better get her to the vet.|||Might be mange or lyme disease. Get your dog to a vet straightaway.|||Take her to the vet. It might just be an allergy, but get it checked out ASAP

Penile infections

Discharge from the penis

Gonorrhea causes a thick white, yellow or green discharge from the tip of the penis.

Sore on the penis

In primary syphilis a hard, painless sore appears on the penis. This is usually accompanied by swelling of the surrounding glands.

Penis pain or discomfort

Pain or discomfort can sometimes be a sign of sexual infection. This may be associated with pain when passing urine. You may also have a discharge with this type of infection.

Ulcer Ulcers on the penis

These ulcers can be a symptom of syphilis. A syphilitic ulcer is called a chancroid.

They begin as small painful pimples that break down to soft ragged ulcers. These ulcers bleed easily. The glands are also often swollen as well.

Specks on hair around the penis

Tiny black, greyish brown eggs on the pubic hair shafts may be a sign of infestation of lice.

Rash on and around the penis

A rash on or near the penis may be scabies. This infestation burrows beneath the skin causing irritation and itching.

Genital herpes causes red spots and blisters on the penis, as well as the scrotum, thigh and on the buttocks.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms it is important that you go see a doctor for a diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

My 71/2 yr old daughter has a raised pimple like rash on arms and legs.?

Benadryl helps with itching, but bumps are stull there. She has dry skin and we have been using cetaphly lotion. She mistakenly rubbed bodywash in thinking it was lotion the night before last, last night after she put lotion on her skin was red and the bumps were flesh colored, a little while later, skin around bumps was red. I don't know if I need to take her to doctor or not. Someone said it looked like 5ths disease, but from the research I've done, it doesn't add up. Any help is appreciated. Diabetes?Do I have it? Help?

I am thinking I may have diabetes. I started having the following symptoms (skin rashes, frequent urination, hungry all the time, extremely thirsty, numbness and tingling in hands) for last 3 months %26amp; ignored them (because I had them on and off for last several years), now things are getting worse (seemed like my kidneys’re hurting?), so I am going to find a doctor (I live in a very small town with a few docs, %26amp; mine left about 6 months ago)%26amp; make appointment as soon as I can (I made some calls on Fri %26amp; found out a doc with the earliest open date is little over a month).

I should mention, me, my family %26amp; friends we all are so blessed to live healthy. So I did not know anything about diabetes until I checked out some excellent websites. Has any of you experienced cracked upper lips and rashes on both upper and lower eyelids and they seemed flair up on every other day %26amp; get so itchy and scaly? I am just wondering if these particular problems are part of the diabetes symptoms?|||Dear "possible diabetic",

Your symptoms point to diabetes. The hallmark symptoms (the triad: increased urination, increased thirst, increased hunger) are most likely due to diabetes, however, without proper diagnosis it is impossible to say that is definitely what you have. It is imperative that you make an appointment with ANY doctor or primary care provider to further assess your situation.

If it is in fact diabetes, and you are not keeping tight glycemic control, it is likely you will develop other complications. This may be the reason for why you are experiencing dry skin and skin rashes. Below I've included a link to a site that lists the many skin infections and rashes that are commonly experienced by diabetics. If diabetes is left untreated it can lead to more serious complications such as vision problems/blindness, cardiac complications, and circulation deficits (particularly to your limbs, which may lead to a necessary amputation.)

Good luck with everything.

Stay healthy.

Kari, RN|||yes you seem to have some of the diabetetic symptoms. my husband, and several of my family members have diabetes. Yes it do work on your kidneys, heart, etc.it will give you dry skin. you should go to the doctor he will give you a blood test to see if it is diabetes. don't be afraid if you have it it can be controlled with meds. and diet. the main thing is to find out if you have it so you can get treated. I hope this answer helps. I believe everything will work out good for you.Just continue to trust God.|||You do seem to have some diabetic symptoms. Measure your waist line, if it is over 30 inches, you may want to get a doctor straight away. If diabetes runs in your family, it could increase the risk of you getting it. The best thing is to look up on the internet the exact symptoms of diabetes (they usually tell you how you can tell if you have diabetes) and if any of them occur to you, then consult your doctor ASAP.Good luck and i hope for the best!! xxx|||get urself checked, (blood drawn), because those are symptomes of 1. diabetes, and 2. lukemia. GOOD LUCK COMRADE|||All of the above can be symptoms and complications of diabetes. Styes and skin problems are very common with diabetes.

Get a fasting glucose tolerance test done, and also an HbA1c. Then you will know for sure one way or the other.

In the meantime, drink 7 to 8 glasses of plain water a day, because its your bodies way of getting rid of excess sugar when you are diabetic. Drinking too much water can cause an electrolyte imbalance, leading to heart arrythmias, so do NOT overdo it.

Avoid all sugar, fruit and starchy foods such as bread, potatoes, rice and pasta, until you know for sure you are not diabetic.

If you turn out to actually be diabetic, at least you will have cut down the excess carbs until you can get insulin or other treatment.

My Lab has a rash on her stomach. I just ran her for a while and it's real red. How do I treat it?

After running her a while it got real red. What is it and how do I treat it? It looks dry. Can it just be dry skin? And for now just don't run with her. treat it well give it only cretain food that are very healthy.|||I'm not entirely sure what could have caused the rash, but for now, you could try to put some antibiotic ointment on in, even better if it's the kind with pain reliever. I doubt if it is dry skin. She would have it on other parts of her body too.

I would call your Vet tomorrow a.m. It is nothing to let go. Whatever is causing it, it is going to make her feel uncomfortable. I doubt that it will go away on its own.|||it depends on the temperature where you are at. if its warmer than normal right now. ( like here it was cold two days ago but for the past two its been in the 70s) then it could just be heat rash. STD?? urologist can't diagnose me?

i might have contracted a STD because i noticed multiple skin rashes/sores that itch and sting on the back side on my shaft. i haven't really noticed any rises or bumps, but it is something that doesn't totally go away. the pain comes and goes and can look worse at times, but i always feel discomfort maybe irriation when i adjust or scratch my groin area through my pants. i had a few white discharges, so without being diagnosed i was given levaquin to kill any infection that might be there. i haven't had any discharges really since, but i do have urine drippage upon sitting down or bending over after urination. my penis tends to smell often even though i wash it all the time. i was tested negative for HIV and i believe they tested for syphillis at that time too although unsure. urologist can't tell if it is or isn't herpes, because the rashes/sores change very slightly in appearance from time to time, but does hurt worse at times. UTIS were ruled out and im gonna see a Dermatologist|||Consult a Dermatologist or Genito-urinary Medicine (GUM) clinic in your area.|||Herpes usually presents with blisters (vesicles) of clear fluid. They are usually painful. The discharge from the urethra is probably something else although you can have herpes in the urethra which sting alot when you urinate. Tests can be done to diagnose herpes and the treatment is acyclovir, famvir or similar antiviral. It will not cure the infection, but it will ease the symptoms.

I have been to two different demitoligists and they both say there is nothing i can do for it. I know there has to be something to help with. since it is getting warmer i am wearing short sleves and tank tops and this thing on my arm makes me feel very bad about myself. If there is aything you can suggest please tell me|||It's called keratosis polaris ... it's a very common genetic condition affecting an estimated 40 to 50% of the adult population and approximately 50 to 80% of all adolescents. It is manifested by the appearance of rough bumps on the skin and referred to as "chicken skin". It most often appears on the back and outer sides of the upper arms and can also occur on the thighs and tops of legs, flanks and buttocks.

It occurs as excess keratin, a natural protein in the skin, accumulates within the hair follicles forming hard plugs. Though people with keratosis pilaris experience this condition year round, it’s during the colder months when moisture levels in the air are lower that the problem can become exacerbated and the “goose bumps” are apt to look and feel more pronounced in color and texture.

There is currently no known cure however, there are effective treatments available which make its symptoms less apparent. The condition often improves with age and can even disappear completely in adulthood, though some will show signs of keratosis pilaris for life. Treatments are largely symptomatic and must be repeated. Regardless, exfoliation, intensive moisturizing cremes, lac-hydrin, Retin A and medicated lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids or urea may be used to temporarily improve the appearance and texture of affected skin. Milk baths may provide some cosmetic improvement due to the lactic acid — a natural alpha hydroxy acid in milk. Sunlight may also be helpful but increases risk of skin cancer. Small amounts of vitamin A can be used orally but only with exteme caution due to potential for liver damage. Check with a Dermatologist or Family Doctor before taking extra vitamin A due to the vitamins' potential toxic effects.

Scratching and picking at the bumps causes them to redden (if they do not already appear red), and in many cases will cause bleeding. Excessive picking can lead to scarring. Wearing clothing that is looser around the affected areas can also help reduce the marks, as constant chafing from clothing (such as tight fitting jeans) is similar to repeatedly scratching the bumps.

Food allergies may also exacerbate the condition, causing hyper-keratosis pilaris, gluten being a common culprit.|||try microdermabration. you know those rotating brushes.|||Maybe its an allergy? Or maybe it is acne, use a loofah to scrub and open the pores, sit in the tub, moisturize, ... basically treat that skin nicely! Try it for a week and see if it helps.|||That sounds like Keratosis pilaris(kara-toe-sis pill-air-is) a condition in which the skin exhibits redness ans irritation in patch-like patterns, accompanied by a rough texture and small pinpoint papules. It's a oil gland disorder,MOST doctors have been successful in treating it by glycolic or lactic acid solutions. Make sure you talk to a good dermatologist about it ans not try doing a treatment yourself.|||Sounds like keratosis pilaris to me.

Red spot on chest and clearasil made it rash?

I thought i had a zit on my chest and put clearasil on it for two nights and now i have like 3 pin size little bumps near it and it itches. was this a allergic reaction to the clearasil? will aveeno lotion be ok to put on it since it is my breast and the skin is so sensitive there?|||Most likely it was an allergic reaction to the clearasil, but you should check with your doctor before putting anything else on it, keep it clean and dry, no lotions or perfumes, that might aggravate it even more, The doctor can prescribe some anitbiotics. Only they know what that so called zit might really be!!! Be careful and pay attention to it!!! Let him know of any changes in color or size and if it is painful!!!|||Try washing it first with basic soap, such as Ivory. Don't put anything on it until you wash it. If it still itches, try something like Benedryl lotion, which will help with the itching and also help with the rash.

If it says longer than a week, make an appointment with a dr. or dermotologist who can prescribe a prescription if it is a rash.

Help with my nine-month old's facial rash??

Thanks for reading. Several weeks ago, my baby developed a small, round, red rough patch of skin on her face. I tried using several things to get it to go down, but it kept getting worse. Recently it spread to her cheeks and became crusty %26amp; inflamed. I took her to the first doctor, who said it was a bacterial infection %26amp; prescribed oral antibiotics %26amp; cream. The next day it was worse, so I took her to another doctor who said it was eczema %26amp; to use a moisturiser. The next morning she woke up and her eye was swollen %26amp; red, so I took her to a third doctor, who said it was school sores (which it isn't). He said to stop the antibiotics %26amp; use steriod cream. He suggested oral steriods if the cream didn't work %26amp; since a cream wouldn't help the eye, I asked for the oral, which seems to help temporarily. My question is, what is it really and what causes it to flare up? I just think it's getting better and then out of nowhere, it flares up again! No doctor can tell me what's causing it!|||Is it around her mouth? It sounds like a "drool rash." My son gets it when he is cutting new teeth. It is no big deal. When he was young, a dab of hydrocortisone helped a lot, but now he is old enough to stick his tongue out and lick, I am afraid to use that. I use a little petrolem jelly (vaseline or aquaphor) to form a moisture barrier, especially when he sleeps. Try to keep any drool wiped during the day. I know it's hard. If it is a drool rash, it'll go away when the teeth come in.|||It sounds exactly like eczema, and she will just have to outgrow it, and might not ever outgrow it. How can you tell if a poison ivy rash is healing or not?

I know w/ any skin irritation, there are usually stages that it may go through before it is gone. I've had poison ivy for a little over a week now and it has changed somewhat in appearance but isn't spreading much. I read somewhere it gets uglier the more it heals? Is this true and what ARE some signs that it is going away rather than getting worse. The itching will begin to lessen as the rash begins to heal. Do be careful, as poison ivy actually gets into the bloodstream, and where you casually scratch someplace else could cause an eruption (poison ivy is not spready by touching it). If OTC calamine and an anti-itch lotions and creams, and washing with oatmeal soap are not controlling the itching, or you find other spots of rash popping up, it would behoove you to see a doctor and get some medication which will clear it up in a couple of days, with relief felt almost immediately. Poison ivy should be dealt with as quickly as possible as where the rash has been can make the skin more sensitive to sun for some time after, and even leave scarring on some people. For your future reference, Tech-nu makes two products for poison ivy and oak; one is a pre-application that prevents the rash from developing, and one is a wash that will prevent the rash if the poison ivy is treated within 20 minutes of contact (generally available in garden and hardware stores and the like.|||My boys have poison ivey a lot. There is a product called technu to wash all your clothes in the get rid of the residue. For you, take a bath with alchohol. Don't use a wash rag as this spreads it. Just tince off with the alcohol. Skin Problems?

I have this rash where my armpits are. It itches and burns. It went away for like three weeks then it came back during the beginning of last week. It is a dark pink color but doesn't have clearly defined edges. I have used benedral medication. Benedral topical lotions seems to help for a very short period. Have tried calamine lotions doesn't even help. I used antifungal lotion for two weeks didn't seem to do anything. Then I stopped using a deodarant I was using and then it went away for a short period. Then it came back even though I am not using the deodrant. I would go to the doctor but I don't want to wait for the oppointed and just have it go away. Plus I am a college student. I have a boyfriend but I am not sure if I should tell him about it or not I don't know how he would take it. I don't think it is spreadable because nobody that I live with has got it. Can anyone offer me any help.|||You need to see your GP. Make an appointment .|||There are a lot of possibilities. Do you shave under your arms? If so notice when you are shaving and if it corresponds to the time the rash breaks out. If so then the razor is to sharp, or not sharp enough, and you are cutting open the skin which can look like a rash.

Also how much water are you drinking? Since your arm pits are one of the areas where your body excretes toxins it could be that there is not enough sweet to purge out the toxins. The general rule for water is take your weight, divide it by 50 pounds and multiply that times 1 1/2 quarts of water. That is the target water intake a day. Start slowly though, and work your way up to it. Consider cutting out fatty foods ~ because they can cause your pores to clog, as well as acid food until your rash clears up. Complex sugar can also be cut out. Your body could be out of balance.

Take him to a pediatrician and have him recommend a dermatologist or allergy specialist.|||Has he had a fever in the last three days. Infants get a viral infection called roseola quite often and the rash looks a little different from child to child. I would take him to the doctor to be checked out. If you have a good pediatrician, they should have no problem seeing him for a rash.|||I t could be exema, try switching laundry detergents and check with your doctor.|||Could also be hand, foot, and mouth disease, which can be common in kids at times. Either way, take him to his doc.|||He may be allergic to something and if you're for sure its not heat rash it may be eczema. Its where the skin becomes dry and itchy and comes in red blotches all over the skin. It can be treated with hydro-cortisone cream. Weird Skin Things? Urticaria or what?

Okay bear with me here.

I have had urticaria for a few years. I lived with it and carried on. It only gave me problems in the evenings and if i got hot at work.

Now i have been having a reaction to water for a while. Even if i just wash my face, i get a red rash and it feels hot to touch.

Its not a reaction to soap as i have used different types. Its not hard or soft water areas as i have been in both and i get the same reaction. Its annoying as i look like a beetrot if i just wash my face.

Any clues?|||No but you could see a dermatologist or Herbal medical practitioner...
