Rash or eczema?
My 9 month old son has had a small patch of red, peely skin on his cheek since the time he was 4 weeks old, my pedatrician said it is Eczema and has been prescribing creams to him. Some of the creams work, some don't but it always comes back. Any ideas on making it go away for good or what i should do?|||Try Cetaphil lotion, it comes in a tub. It works great and you have to keep applying it over and over. I do it like 2 times an hour and its gone like that. Just keep up with it and it will be gone in no time. Also try to think about what may be the cause, for my son it was the Texas heat so I put him in cotton clothes that were light and it stopped. Maybe if it is cold where you are you could put a scarf of yours around his cheeks while out. Good luck-|||my son had the same it was eczema and he was prescribed Locoid Lipocream and it went away.... it would come back a couple of weeks later then now its gone... they say if it doesnt go away and keeps coming back he'll have it forever|||The one way to be sure of its eczema or not is to look at your family tree. if anyone in the past few generations suffered from asthma or eczema then its likely eczema. Eczema is hereditary and is linked to asthma. Things that make the little rash spot come back is allergen triggers. Like pets and carpets that arent well vaccumed etc which explains why it comes and goes. Just keep applying the creams and watch the diet to see if any specific foods trigger it. Changes in the weather might also trigger it. Just keep it clean and apply the creams, it only worsens once its dried out and is scratched.|||Keep trying the creams. With luck he will grow out it. I did(I was in my teens) and so did my daughter(she was still a toddler). I found that often times emotional stress triggered and caused outbreaks. The link below has information on coping and food allergies. Good Luck and God Bless.
