Can a dog get eczema?
If not can too much scratching cause red skin and red blotches? Could it be scabs?
One more thing my sister put head and shoulders on my small dog. what might that do to my dogs skin?|||yes yes yes and never use head and shoulders on your
dog. the dogs skin is really sensitive and the shampoo
gave him a reaction. it might be burning him. i would
try and give him another bath with puppy shampoo
and see if he feels better. you can also buy a spray to help
with the itch until it heals. if it doesn't get better within a couple
of days i would bring him to a vet.|||Yes

It could scald and irritate the skin, especially if it wasn't rinsed of well. Dog skin has a different pH than human skin, and human shampoos are usually too harsh for dogs.|||Yes to all of your questions.
Eczema is a general term to describe various inflamed skin disorders in dogs. One of the most common form of eczema is atopic dermatitis. The symptoms of eczema may vary from dog to dog. Common for eczema in dogs is a red itchy scalp. Another eczema symptom is a dry skin with scaly skin rashes. In other dogs small bumps occur that become moist and oozing.
It appears that the cause of eczema is an abnormal response of the dogs immune system. Eczema is not contagious. Dogs with eczema are prone to develop yeast infections.
If your dog has eczema, the Head and Shoulders only made it worse, on top of the fact that Dog Shampoos exist for a reason. Don't use it again.
DOG-VET-GO!|||Yes dogs can get eczema.
Too much scratching can cause red skin and blotches, and it would become scabby.
It would likely dry the skin / coat out. Did she rinse the head and shoulders off the dog?|||My dog used to have red skin with red blotches and the vet has us give him Benadryl (as it's generally an allergy). Depending on the size of the dog the dosage will vary, so I recommend you take your dog to the vet. Or call your cousin who's a vet...that's what I do. lol Hope this helps!
