Passifier rash...normal?

my little one is a week old and has been sucking a passy for a while and no matter what style we choose he gets break out areas from it. im sure its just where its rubbing on his skin, and its nothing to worry about, but i just wanted to verify it with other mothers.|||We had the same problem. Just make sure you keep his mouth as dry as you can ( I know that's not always easy!). We used Soothie pacifiers and that helped a little bit. Our doctor said it was pretty common and we used hydrocortisone cream 1/2% once a week to keep it cleared up (given to us by our doctor). Walgreens, and walmart carry it|||Take him to a dr. If he goes to day care or a baby sitters he may have impetigo. It'a a type of skin rash and you can get rid of it with a rx cream, but the bad news is he might have to give up the passy for a while until it goes away. Otherwise it could be a latex or plastic allergy. Either way you should bring it up at his next apt.|||make sure the area stays as dry as possible. You can get a little fungal infection if it stays wet %26amp; warm for long periods of time. Make sure she doesnt seem bothered or uncomfortable. It may be shes sucking really hard. It is a natural thing to suck when they are born good luck|||My little brother had that same problem when he was a baby! My parents got him those pacifiers that didn't 'cling' to his face! They poked the other way! I can't think of what they are called (it was almost 12 yrs ago), but anyway...they cured his rash on his face! Hope that helps...|||This is caused from sweat or slobber which keeps the skin wet, you can prevent it by rubbing a small amount of vaseline or A%26amp;D ointment on the area while it's dry to keep any moisture away from the skin.|||We had the same problem with my son and tried several different kinds. The ones we found to be the best to keep the area dry were the MAM pacifiers. They have a slight curve to them and little holes in the area around the mouth.|||it's just from the drool on their face.

try putting some Vaseline on the areas where it's breaking out.
